We all know that summer vacation can go either way. This was the first vacation with both kiddos. I was smart and brought my nannies (grandparents and aunts and uncle)-needless to say with a ration of 7 adults to 2 children it was a success!

We went to a fabulous place called Carillon Beach which is about 30 miles east of Destin,FL. It was beautiful!

My mom was a super trooper for braving the 12 hour car ride with the kids and I while Steven, Dad, and Jaclyn flew in a couple days later. We went half way and stayed with my grandparents, and got to see my cousin's new baby, Lane, for the first time. We made this a 3 day journey visiting family along the way and breaking up the long car ride. The next day we headed to Slidell to pick up Ashlie and Casey and we all headed to the beach.

The kids did wonderful in the car and the beach was beautiful! We were literaly steps away from the beach and several pools and tennis courts. We rented a beautiful home and pretty much went from the beach to the pool all day. It was really fun to all spend time together in such a beautiful environment. It was paradise!

Family vacation successful!

Okay so he had just rolled out of bed to take this picture....but Happy Father's Day to the World's Greatest dad (besides my dad). Steven has gotten into Tennis lately so we got him all kinds of tennis gear with some lessons-notice the sweat band.

I must give Steven props for being such a wonderful dad. There is nothing that I love more but to see him with our children, and what an amazing father he is to them. I am one lucky gal!
Yes Steven and Jack have the same size head!

Oh my goodness where did the time go? My little girl is 4! Here is a picture of her at her first birthday and now look at her. Kate had a couple friends over and we had a little birthday in the backyard during the day and then that night we had all the family and close friends over for dinner and the pool. Kate enjoyed getting thrown across the pool from her dad and Uncle Josh.

Kate remembered on the morning of her birthday that I usually wake her up with a waffle and a candle sining Happy Birthday to her. I apparently slept in that day and she came in my room (at 7:30) and said, "Mom I have been waiting why haven't you woken me up with my Birthday waffle?" I said Oh my I am sorry go back to bed and I'll be there in a minute. Opps!

I got treated like a gueen on Mother's Day this year. Steven and Kate went shopping and Kate picked out a beautiful pink neckless with matching pink earings. She made me many sweet pictures at church and school. One of the pictures was a portrait of me and it had a very large smile with lots of dark teeth. When I asked her about it she said they were my cavities-nice. Ha! She keeps me humble. After church Steven cleaned the house while the kids napped and watch one of my favorite chick flicks "Something's Gotta Give." We finished the day hanging out at the pool and Steven made me dinner after the kids went to bed. It was a fabulous day. I wish Mother's Day was once a month, but once a year-I'll take it. Jack was 10 months old so we also took some pictures of him.

Easter

I know with everything that has happened this spring I missed some very important events. Needless to say, I am going to try to catch up....

Here is our attempt for a family photo. It is near impossible to get everyone looking at the camera.
This year we celebrated an "Easter Week". The week started off with the world's coldest Easter Egg hunt. I think it was in the 50s and all the children were miserable and freezing. Of-couse the Easter Bunny showed up (my mom) to scare opps I mean surprise all the children. Jack was one of them...I'm not sure how I got a pleasent smile. Who knows what my children think about all these holiday characters. Between my dad always dressing like Santa and my mom the Easter Bunny....I'm pretty sure they think they are the actual characters.
We also dyed easter eggs. Kate had a great time, but as you can see it was obviously the highlight of Dusty's week!
Kate and Jack woke up Easter moning to find that the Easter Bunny had come. The theme was summer and they both got their swimsuits.
We dressed them all up in their Easter outfits and headed to church. (I did find it is harder to match a boy and girl). It was a really meaningful day both in youth and "Big Church." They did something called Cardboard Testimonals. I know they have something like it on youtube, but seeing in person with people I knew personally was very powerful! What an amazing God!
The day ended with two more Easter Egg Hunts at the Testones and my parents. The kids had a great time and had complete candy overload. As you can see we forgot Kate's Easter basket and Baba (Steven's mom) gave her a Victoria Secret bag to hunt with-nice. Jack had his first peep and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a wonderful day!
